Registered Nurse (NICU) - Worcester, Massachusetts

Job Requirements

• Current Massachusetts RN license (conditional license acceptable)
• Minimum 2 years experience in Level 3 or 4 NICU
• EPIC experience required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• 36 hours per week

Certifications & Competencies Required

• NRP (Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure, AHA/AAP)
• BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support, AHA) – required for ER (verify if applicable)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support, AHA) – required for NICU
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – AWHONN Intermediate may be required for L&D
• Medication Exam / Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
• Pass/Fail Testing (Medication and Telemetry Exams as applicable)
• State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
• NURSYS Verification (within 30 days prior to start)
• Other specialty certifications as applicable (e.g., CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification) – check assignment details

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (all counties lived/worked)
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance (attestation required within 30 days prior to start)
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks if run separately
• Sex Offender Search (for subcontractors if run separately)
• Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (required for all candidates in MA)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days)
• TB Questionnaire (required regardless of TB results)
• Immunizations or valid declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU):

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination with documentation)
  • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, history, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
• Seasonal vaccinations or declinations required:

  • Flu vaccine (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine (most recent vaccination or declination)
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references within 3 years of start
• Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually as applicable
• Valid government-issued ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Compliance with facility-specific declinations and documentation policies

This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with strong EPIC skills and required certifications, ready to work a 13-week travel contract in Worcester, MA.
