Work Schedule

• Multiple shifts available
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend days worked per 6 weeks
• On Call: 2 on-call shifts required per 6 weeks (for emergencies or extra shifts as needed)

Job Summary

• Practice independently in a similar clinical setting
• Provide routine and complex nursing care
• Manage long-range goals and clinical contingencies
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers
• Meet applicable competency standards (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders)

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers

Requirements

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Current RN license in New Mexico or compact license
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Current ACLS (AHA) certification required
• Current PALS (AHA) certification required
• Current TNCC certification required

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred
• Must have recent/current ER experience with trauma levels I, II, or III

Orientation & Competency

• New hires must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
• Precepted by trained staff with competency validations including Emergency Department-specific validation
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
• Completion of annual competency verification required
