Job Summary: Interventional Radiology Tech
Location: University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Unit: Interventional Radiology
Unit Beds: 7
Facility Beds: 509
Trauma Level: 1
Teaching Facility: Yes
Prior Travel Experience Required: Yes
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in Interventional Radiology (IR), ideally with neuro IR experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Certification preferred but not required
- Recent EPIC experience required
Orientation
- 1 week (biweekly orientation sessions available)
Shift & Scheduling
- Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (10-hour days)
- Rotation schedule with weekend requirements: work every 5th weekend
- Call required at least one night per week and on the 5th weekend
- Holiday coverage required, distributed among staff
- No floating or charge nurse responsibilities
Patient Population
- Diagnoses include liver failure, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), multiple myeloma
- Age range: 18-100 years
Unit Environment & Support
- CNA/PCT/Unit Secretary support available
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7
- Anesthesia available 24/7
- Respiratory therapists manage ventilators
Equipment & Procedures
- Special equipment: ACT, EKOS catheter/setup, EVD/ICP monitoring, lumbar drains
- Unit-specific procedures include:
- Starting IVs
- Monitoring sedated patients
- Administering sedation medications
- Monitoring EKG
- Administering blood products
- Managing drips such as Integrelin, TPA, Propofol, heparin, Fentanyl, Versed
Dress Code & Documentation
- Scrubs: Hospital issued
- Shoes, jewelry, hair/beard, nail polish: per hospital policy
- Documentation system: Epic
Additional Information
- Position is for an IR Tech working 10-hour day shifts
- Call frequency and weekend work required as noted
- COVID vaccination not required
- Skills checklist and references must be current (within 12 months)
- No RTO (Return to Office) approvals after offer
