Description

Surgical Services Travel/Contract Position

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Specialty: Surgical Services (Surgical Tech)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Certifications:
    • NBSTSA certification required (NO NCCT)
    • BLS required
    • EPIC experience required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years CVOR experience
    • Open heart surgery experience required
    • Level I trauma experience required
  • Schedule:
    • 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (6 AM - 4:30 PM) with alternating days off
    • 1-2 call days per week with 30-minute response time
    • Every 3rd or 4th weekend required (Friday 4:30 PM to Monday 6 AM)
    • Holidays as needed (expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays)
    • Alternative schedules considered: 4x10 hours or 3x12 hours for capable surgical techs
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Floating: As needed
  • Additional: May care for COVID patients
  • Facility Policy: Tobacco and fragrance-free environment

  • Clinical pre-screen to determine fit
  • Manager interview required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; can start with results pending if on file within 45 days
  • Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start (must be finalized prior to start)
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years of start; can start with results pending if on file within 45 days

Certifications & Verifications

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC) as applicable
  • BLS (AHA or ARC) required
  • PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • State license primary source verification
  • NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
  • Tech Certification verification as applicable

Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required with documentation including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days (PPD not accepted)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or exemption/declination accepted
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
  • Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually

Facility Specific Documents

  • Passport-style photo for badge (professional appearance, solid background)
  • Review and sign facility policies including:
    • Medical Statement Non-Employee Ability to Work
    • Commitment to Health & Wellness
    • Code of Conduct
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Non-Employee Affidavit
    • Hepatitis B Declination (if applicable)
    • Safety and Security Vehicle Registration (if applicable)
  • Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules for RNs and CNAs by due date
  • New hire orientation required by end of first day

Additional Notes

  • Two professional references required within 3 years
  • Most recent resume/application required
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • Performance evaluations completed onsite by unit managers during assignment
