Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Open to first-time travelers with at least two years of experience
• Special Procedures: Bedside bronchoscopy and bedside pulmonary function testing (PFT)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• Float required (ability to work in multiple areas as needed)
• Must have Tennessee state license in hand
• Experience with Cerner Charting System required
• Travelers requesting time off during major holidays (Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day) will generally not be accommodated

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and uploaded (no screenshots/photos)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; required for specific units, must be current and uploaded
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Preferred, especially for pediatric-related units
• Tennessee state license (must be current and verified)

Additional Preferred Certifications (depending on unit)

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification)
• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred for ER
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - for L&D, OBGYN, Mother & Baby units
• NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RN candidates
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - preferred for ER and Psych

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for Aya placements)
• Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or equivalent within 12 months)
• Competency Exam (required for Aya placements)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for RNs, must score 80% or higher)
• Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check must be completed within 45 days of start and updated annually
• Background check must include 7 years of history with detailed SSN trace, alias verification, sex offender registries, criminal searches, and abuse registries
• Drug testing required within 45 days of start, covering a comprehensive panel of substances
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, confirming fitness for duty
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• Immunizations/vaccinations required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (for 2025-26 season, no declinations accepted except approved medical/religious exemptions)
• TB questionnaire required
• References: Two supervisory references from the past 3 years
• Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year

Facility Specific Requirements

• Passport-style photo with solid background required for badge
• Completion of onboarding attestation and review of facility-specific onboarding documents
• Background Check Alias Name Attestation if applicable
• Job description acknowledgment required, especially if there is a gap greater than 30 days or switching facilities

Notes

• Must be able to comply with all documentation and credentialing requirements prior to start
• Must be flexible to float and work required weekends
• Holiday time off requests are generally not approved during major holidays listed above
