OR RN Travel Assignment - South Dakota

Location

• City: Aberdeen, South Dakota

Assignment Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Facility Type: New facility with 4 OR suites, 1 procedure room, 8 PACU bays, and 18 patient center rooms
• Shift: Full-time, 64-80 hours per week
• Shift Length: 8-hour shifts (some 12-hour shifts for Pre-Op RN role, generally 6a-6p)
• Call: Call rotation 1-2 days per week, every 2nd-4th weekend, rotating holidays
• Weekend Call: Approximately once every 4th weekend (9a-1p on Saturday/Sunday for outpatient infusions)

Required Certifications and Licenses

• South Dakota RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - AHA certified
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience

Job Responsibilities

• Circulate surgery cases and assist with pulling and prepping for surgery
• Work from preference card system
• Set up, clean, and turnover OR rooms
• Maintain excellent organizational and note-taking skills
• Surgical specialties include general surgery, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics

Equipment and Systems

• Computer charting via Epic system
• Medication management using Pyxis system and Pharmacy
• Surgical equipment includes arthroscopic pumps and shavers, cautery machines, laser, fracture table, C-arm x-ray

Floating and Additional Duties

• Potential to float within peri-operative department:

  • Patient Center (pre-op, post-op, outpatient services such as infusions, dressing changes)
  • PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• OR: 1:1
• Patient Center: 1:1 to 1:4 depending on patient needs
• PACU: 2:1

Orientation and Training

• Initial department orientation covering location of supplies and workflow
• General hospital orientation for navigation
• Equipment and supply training tailored to individual experience level

Additional Notes

• Scrubs provided (Ceil Blue)
• Clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Local placements available within 80 miles
• Immediate start dates only
• Pre-Op RN needed with typical hours of three 12-hour shifts (6a-6p) and limited weekend call
