EEG Technologist (Technician) - Temp

Location: Mattoon, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform EEGs and assist Neurologists and Neuro Technologists with EMGs, clinic visits, and other clinical duties.
• Assist Neuro Tech with Nerve Conduction Velocities (NCVs) and other clinical tasks.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of neurology and electroencephalography.
• Explain EEG testing procedures to patients and families.
• Maintain and adjust equipment to ensure accurate results.
• Obtain accurate and concise patient histories.
• Prepare patients and equipment for EEG examinations, performing tests according to laboratory standards.
• Produce accurate and complete EEG reports emphasizing clinical observations.
• Recognize, monitor, and eliminate artifacts; perform routine activation procedures such as hyperventilation.
• Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and take precautions to prevent infections.
• Understand medication effects on EEGs.
• Verify physician orders and patient identification.

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in EEG/Neuro diagnostics.
• Experience with EMG/Neuro testing required.
• Certifications:

  • ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Submission must include:

  • Work history
  • Skills checklist current to within 1 year relevant to the specialty
  • Two supervisory references with dates employed
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates not considered)

Facility & Work Environment

• Uses Cerner EMR system.
• Dress code: Royal Blue Scrubs.
• Nonbillable hours: 16 hours.
• Overtime/Holiday pay: 1.25x regular rate.
• Call back pay: 1.3x regular rate.
• On-call rate available.
• Applicants who were direct employees within the last 2 years are not eligible.
