Job Description

• Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
• Assess patient needs based on history, observation, physical exam, and diagnostic data.
• Plan individualized nursing care tailored to holistic, age-specific patient needs.
• Provide nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician’s medical orders.
• Demonstrate competency in nursing skills per facility standards.
• Use appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
• Perform patient safety initiatives including patient identification, effective communication, specimen labeling, clinical alarms, infection control, and universal protocol adherence.
• Carry out physician’s orders accurately, including handling verbal/telephone orders and medication scanning.
• Conduct nursing handoffs and bedside reports with thorough documentation.
• Complete procedural paperwork such as consent forms, pre/post-procedure checklists, and time-outs.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and facility policies.
• Reconcile and administer patient medications and blood products per policy.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Perform code management including crash cart and rapid response protocols.
• Care for patients with unit-specific needs such as moderate sedation, point-of-care testing, contrast injector use, sheath removal, operation of procedural equipment, physiological monitoring, and aseptic technique.

Required Credentials & Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only) – Required before onboarding
• BLS (AHA only) – Required before onboarding
• Nursing License – Primary source verification required, state-specific registry
• Nursys Verification – Nursing license verification within 30 days of start
• McLeod Skills Checklist – Must be completed prior to start and updated annually
• Immunizations/Health History:

  • MMR (Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab report; no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B (Proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab report; no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab report; no declinations accepted)
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) (First test within 1 year, second within 30 days of start; negative Q-Gold or Tspot within 90 days also accepted)
• Drug Screening:

  • 10 panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted)
• Professional Documents:

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Resume/Profile (submission required prior to start)
  • Criminal Background Check (county, statewide, national, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS trace, education verification; within 60 days of start covering last 7 years, updated annually)
  • Employment Verification (last 5 years)
  • Confirmation of Assignment (facility standard form)

Additional Information

• Fit Test is optional but recommended for travelers (must be completed within one year of start).
• Influenza vaccine is optional but required during September-April unless medical/religious exemption is provided.
• Annual negative PPD and TB questionnaire are optional if 2-step PPD not done within the past year.
• Positive PPD requires a negative chest X-ray within 90 days of start.

This position requires a highly skilled RN with experience in endovascular neurosurgery procedures and patient care in a procedural suite environment. The role emphasizes patient safety, adherence to protocols, and comprehensive nursing care.
