Location: Newberg, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: MRI Technologist (No first-timers)
  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level IV Trauma Center
  • Beds: 60
  • Shift:
    • Weekends required (Friday - Sunday initially, may change)
    • Looking for 0.6 FTE (2 x 12 hr shifts), will consider 0.9 FTE if needed
    • Shift days may change after orientation of new permanent employee
  • Floating: No floating between units
  • On-call: Not required
  • Ratios: 1:1
  • Scrub Color: Any color or business casual
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: No fee
  • Equipment: Must be able to use GE Artist 1.5 T scanner
  • 48-hour workweek: Not approved

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Must be within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), Oregon Abuse/Neglect (if applicable)
    • International background check if lived/worked internationally in past 7 years
    • Returning candidates with less than 30-day gap may use existing background checks if valid
  • State-Specific Checks:
    • Oregon Abuse/Neglect Search (if applicable)
    • Washington State Patrol Search (WSP/WATCH) for Washington and border placements
    • Washington OBRA Registry Search for CNAs in Washington Skilled Nursing Facilities (not applicable here)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
    • BLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
    • PALS (if applicable)
    • NRP (if applicable)
    • Other certifications as required by clinical track or facility
  • Licenses:
    • State professional license copy required
    • NURSYS verification for RNs
    • Allied licensure verification as applicable
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO)
    • Fit Mask test (annual, travel only)
    • Immunizations: TDAP, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu (seasonal), COVID vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • Drug screen (10 panel) within 90 days of start
    • Respiratory Safety Clearance (travel only, annual)
  • References:
    • Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in last 3 years from supervisors in comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment Application:
    • Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
  • Skills Checklists:
    • Required for applicable units, updated annually

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable by profession/specialty
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency: As applicable
  • Color Blind Testing: If required by unit or PM team
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) Certification: Not required for MRI Techs
  • WorkRamp Modules:
    • Oregon Core Modules required for all Oregon candidates by profession
    • Specialty-specific modules not required for MRI Techs
    • Annual regulatory modules required for all caregivers
  • Epic Training: Required for Oregon candidates; must complete Epic modules within a week of orientation

Additional Notes

  • Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required
  • Scrub Color: Any color accepted
  • No 48-hour workweek approval

This position is ideal for experienced MRI Technologists comfortable with the GE Artist 1.5 T scanner, able to work weekends, and willing to commit to a 13-week travel contract in a Level IV Trauma Center setting. Compliance with Providence Health and Services documentation, background checks, certifications, and training requirements is mandatory.
