Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Unit Details

  • Weekend Schedule: Every Other Weekend
  • Call: None
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
  • First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work 2 of them

Major Holidays Include:

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
  • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
  • New Year's Eve/New Year's Day

Orientation & Compliance

  • Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum: 7 days
  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Valid Registered Nurse license (State License verification within 30 days prior to start)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for RNs in specified specialties
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for RNs in PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), and ER
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) may be required depending on specialty
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) course required within a few months of hire (no renewal required)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Other certifications (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification) may be required depending on specialty

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • General Competency Exam (required for Nursing by Aya)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and related units (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest X-ray if positive TB history
  • TB Questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required annually

Background & Documentation

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Two clinical references required

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty and no prior travel experience required. The assignment is approximately 14 weeks in length with every other weekend off and no call responsibilities. Compliance with all licensure, certification, health, and background requirements is mandatory for timely start.
