Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit: 6North, 12-bed unit
- Level: Intermediate care using critical care and neuroscience principles
- Patient types:
- Transfers from Neuro ICU
- Neuro trauma patients
- Subarachnoid, intraventricular, intracerebral hemorrhage
- ENT cancer patients post tumor resection and flap reconstruction
- Post-operative spine patients
- Various neurological conditions
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Shift: Nights
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday off; time off can be approved up to 40 hours
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required
- NIH Stroke Certification - required before start (can be submitted pending)
- Must have or be able to submit Virginia nursing license pending
- Epic experience required
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Neuroscience/Neuro Intermediate Care)

- Drug testing: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Facility-specific forms: Professional appearance guidelines, release authorization, TB screening, traveler compliance, fit testing acknowledgment (if patient-facing), latex allergy questionnaire (if applicable)
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Skills checklist and competency exams required and must be updated annually
Additional Notes
- Must adhere to facility float policy
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing on cardiac rhythms and medication knowledge
- CPI certification required only for Behavioral Health nurses (not applicable here)
