Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics, NICU Experience)

Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Pediatric RN with NICU experience required
  • Rotating shifts, 36 hours every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
  • Start date: January 5, 2025
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Must hold a Maryland RN license and BLS certification
  • Unit details: Pediatric Pediatric/Surgical unit with preferred experience in:
    • Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
    • Prematurity
    • Apnea of Prematurity (AOP)
    • Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
    • Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia/Chronic Lung Disease (BLD/CLD)
    • Cardiac defects
    • Feeding issues
    • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and iatrogenic NAS
    • Trach care experience required
  • May be required to float to the main location in Baltimore

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Maryland RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (refer to unit description)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (refer to unit description)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only (refer to unit description)
  • Other certifications as applicable (e.g., CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE) based on unit/job description

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Background Checks including:
    • 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
    • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
    • Education verification for highest level of education
    • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Employment Application and Resume (completed within 30 days of start)
  • Work History Verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for pediatric units)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes, updated annually
  • TB Questionnaire if positive TB result, within 2 weeks prior to start
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 2, 2025
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking

Competency Exams (as applicable)

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (not required for this location)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Passport/badge style photo with solid white/beige background
  • Signed job description prior to start
  • Security ID application within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
  • Dress code review prior to start
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire completed by all candidates
  • Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form (time sensitive)
