Occupational Therapist - Inpatient & Acute Care

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (5x8)
• One weekend day per month required
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Setting: Inpatient unit, fast-paced hospital environment
• Multidisciplinary rehab team including PT, OT, and SLP
• CARF accredited program for general rehab, stroke, and amputee care
• Patients receive at least 3 hours of therapy, 5 days per week

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Occupational Therapy in inpatient and acute care
• Minimum 3 years of experience required (higher value confirmed)
• Comprehensive inpatient and acute care experience strongly preferred
• Neurological experience required (stroke/brain impairment)
• Spinal cord injury experience is a bonus but not required
• Amputee experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted with proper experience
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC)
• State license required

Certifications & Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• State license verification required prior to start
• Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification)

Compliance & Documentation

• Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches
• E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
• Drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) documentation or titers
  • Hepatitis B titer or series or signed declination
  • Varicella documentation or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite)

Additional Requirements

• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
• Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years, passing score 80%+
• Color blindness testing required (online or in-person)
• Facility-specific orientation and safety training modules must be completed before start date

Notes

• Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate
• Teamwork and patient care quality are emphasized
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
