Travel RN Opportunity - MedSurg Telemetry Unit

Unit Information

• Unit: E100 – MedSurg Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 48 (average census 27)
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights)
• Staffing:

  • 1 unit secretary (7am-11pm)
  • Patient Care Technicians (PCT) ratio 1:10-15 (typically 3 per shift)
  • Occasional 1:1 coverage with PCT or patient safety tech
• Equipment: Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, vein finder
• Documentation System: Altera/Allscripts Sunrise
• Scheduling: Every other week (EOW), 12-hour shifts preferred
• Floating Policy: Floats to like MST units (D1, F2); float pool and travelers generally float first
• Patient Experience: Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shift Mon-Fri at 10:30-11:15am

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in MedSurg Telemetry
• Skillset:

  • Head to toe assessment
  • Orthopedic care knowledge
  • IV medication administration including management of Lasix drip, heparin drip, IV push metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV or subQ)
  • Wound care including drain management and VAC therapy
  • NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition
  • Central line management (PICC, HD catheter, midlines)
  • Foley, nephrostomy, suprapubic catheter care
  • Ostomy care
  • Postoperative patient care

Certifications Required

• Registered Nurse (RN) License
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Dress Code

• No required uniform
• Scrubs and closed-toe shoes (no crocs)
