• Unit Description:
  Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - a critical care step-down unit with 26 beds providing specialized care for adult acute care patients requiring continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring. Patients may require airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions.
• Patient Population: Adult acute care patients transferred from ED, PACU, ICU, and med-surg floors.
• Facility Type: Tertiary Care Hospital with 528 staffed beds

Requirements

• Licensure:
  Must have a valid New York RN license in hand (no exceptions).
• Experience:
  Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
• Prior Travel Experience:
  Not required; first-time travelers accepted.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM as required by unit (preferred or may be required)
• Skills:

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of rapid response/code teams
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy including peripheral line care/management
  • Respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions

Additional Information

• Geographic Restriction:
  Locals must live within a 75-mile radius.
• Shift Details:
  Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each.
• Scrub Color:
  Any combination of navy and white.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• 7-year criminal background check (including felony, SSN trace, national sex offender, education verification)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start
• Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
• Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• References (2 within 3 years) required for agency only
• Employment application and skills checklist annually
• Work history verification (minimum 2 past employments)
• State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable), criminal background fingerprinting (if applicable), sex offender registry, Medicaid exclusion list
