Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Position Details

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg (MS) experience required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Massachusetts RN license in hand (proof required)
• Certifications Required:

  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from AHA or Red Cross (required for Med-Surg/Tele units)
• Preferred Certifications:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (not required for ICU)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred for ER but not required

Competencies & Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet Angoff score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Med-Surg/Tele)
• Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test required for certain units)
• Pass/Fail Testing on EKG/Medication on first day of orientation (remediation possible if failed)

Required Documents & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form (prior to start)
• Background Checks including:

  • 7-year SS Trace and County searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
  • HHS/OIG (annual)
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (state-specific)
• CORI release (criminal background check)
• Facility-specific documents including:

  • Headshot photo for badge (grey background, no selfies)
  • Flu Exemption Form (if applicable)
  • COVID-19 Medical and Religious Exemption Forms (if applicable)
  • TB Questionnaire (if positive TB test)
  • Hepatitis B Declination Form (if applicable)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start
• Fit Testing for 3M N95 Model 1860 mask (all units including OR)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (QuantiFERON Gold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccine doses (declinations require doctor’s note)
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer required; declination only accepted with low titer and completion of declination form
• Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or history of chickenpox
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination required annually with proof prior to start; medical or religious exemptions require facility approval

References & History

• Documentation of 2 recent professional work references required (within 3 years)

This position requires a BSN degree and all certifications must be current and verifiable. Candidates must comply with all facility-specific and state-specific documentation and health requirements prior to start.
