Description

Job Opportunity: Clinical Support Unit (MS/Tele/ED Boarders) - Boise, Idaho

Specialty

  • Clinical Support Unit (Med Surg / Telemetry / ED Boarders)
  • Float pool includes Med Surg, Telemetry, and ED units for boarder patients
  • Must float within specialty; no floating outside scope
  • Float locations include Boise, Meridian, and Nampa facilities within the region

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty
  • Prior travel experience required

Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC) — required for all

Unit Details

  • Float pool covers 7 Med Surg units across facilities (4 in Boise, 2 in Meridian, 1 in Nampa)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio on Med Surg: 1:5
  • Charge nurse present on all units and takes assignments
  • Nurse aids/patient care techs available with ratios ranging from 1:8 to 1:10 depending on floor and day
  • RNs may be required to titrate drips (e.g., Med Surg insulin)
  • No requirement for RNs to read their own telemetry strips; tele/monitor techs are present

Shifts & Scheduling

  • Shift times: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • No self-scheduling; block scheduling attempted but not guaranteed
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage as needed
  • No call or standby requirement

Orientation

  • Meet and greet on day 1
  • 3 shifts of inpatient orientation

Additional Information

  • Travelers will be notified via an app about unit and hospital assignment approximately 1 hour before shift start
  • Mid-shift floating is common; travelers may float to different units or facilities as needed
  • Clean and professional dress code; no specific scrub color required
  • Facilities have easy access and safe parking
  • Positive work culture
  • Highly prefer antepartum and mother-baby experience for Labor & Delivery travelers (if applicable)
