Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Assignment
Location: California City, California

Job Description
- Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing Licensed Independent Provider’s orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
- Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care, treatment, and referrals of inmates/residents.
- Perform technical and clinical procedures within scope of education and licensure.
- Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare inmates/residents for examination, and manage medication dispensing and documentation.
- Respond to emergencies, perform emergency procedures, and coordinate with Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders.
- Examine and assess inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries and refer to emergency or appropriate healthcare facilities as needed.
- Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
- Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records.
- Assist with review and documentation of medical services and monitor potential catastrophic illnesses.
- Audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence and comply with pharmacy laws, especially controlled substances.
- Observe and record inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical units for contraband.
- Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of medical records, reports, and logs.
- Interpret medical, legal, and regulatory documents.
- Participate in accreditation processes (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) by ensuring efficient and appropriate medical services.
- Prepare safety and accident reports and take action in serious incidents or emergencies.
- Escort and coordinate movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment.
- Perform searches for contraband and ensure security of confined areas, including working rotating shifts.
- Take action to prevent or diffuse disruptive situations.
- Perform rescue functions during accidents, emergencies, and disasters, including basic emergency medical aid and evacuation.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
- Current RN licensure in California.
- Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience (preferred).
- Valid driver's license required.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
