Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Nights

  • Schedule: 48 hours; every other weekend (EOW) and holiday requirement as scheduled

  • Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric

  • Patient Ratio: 1:5

  • Specialty Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)

  • Common Diagnoses:

    • General medical surgical population
    • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
    • Chest Pain (CP)
    • Cellulitis
    • Osteomyelitis
    • Pancreatitis
    • Post-amputations
    • Small bowel obstruction
    • Atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias
    • Cancer
    • Palliative care
  • Special Procedures/Unit Details:

    • EKGs
    • Drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix (non-titratable within parameters)
    • Telemetry monitoring
  • Equipment Used:

    • Telemetry
    • IV Pumps
    • Oxygen
    • Pulse oximeter
    • Vital signs machine
    • Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
    • Bed/chair alarms
    • Chest tubes
    • Foley catheters
  • Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed

  • On-Call: Not required


Experience Requirements

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years Registered Nurse experience required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Maryland RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Background Check (7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Education Verification for highest level of education
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, badge photo, and job description acknowledgment
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (3M N95 masks required, must be done prior to start)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
  • COVID vaccine not required for this facility but exemptions accepted for tracking purposes

Competency Exams (as applicable)

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Color Blind Testing
  • Competency Exam relevant to profession/specialty
  • Age Specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam

References & Work History

  • Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager; charge RN acceptable if directly supervised)
  • Employment history verification for previous 5-7 years required (attestation accepted if necessary)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to sign facility-specific confidentiality and job description documents prior to start
  • IT confidentiality agreement must be signed within 24 hours of receipt to avoid delays in access and orientation
  • Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form may be applicable for Epic users
  • Respirator Questionnaire required and must be signed by a medical professional

This position offers a 13-week travel contract for experienced Registered Nurses interested in working nights on a telemetry medical-surgical unit with a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
