Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 hours every other week (EOW)
• Holiday Requirement: Yes, as scheduled
• Floating: Required within specialty and lower acuity as needed
• On-Call: Not required
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Maryland RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., CHEMO, TNCC, PALS, NRP)

Patient Population & Care Details

• Patient Age Range: Adult, Geriatric
• Patient Ratio: 1:5

  • General medical surgical population
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Chest Pain (CP)
  • Cellulitis
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Pancreatitis
  • Post-amputation care
  • Small bowel obstruction
  • Atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias
  • Cancer
  • Palliative care

Unit & Equipment Details

• Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
• Special Procedures:

  • EKGs
  • Drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix (non-titratable within parameters)
• Equipment:

  • Telemetry monitors
  • IV pumps
  • Oxygen equipment
  • Pulse oximeter
  • Vital signs machines
  • Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
  • Bed/chair alarms
  • Chest tubes
  • Foley catheters

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
• Drug screening (negative 9 or 10 panel depending on facility) within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam including latex screening within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria) as applicable
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted, series not accepted)
• TB testing: Negative QGOLD/TSPOT or 2-step PPD within required timeframes, updated annually
• Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
• Employment history verification for previous 5-7 years
• Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, badge photo, and job description acknowledgment

Additional Notes

• Floating within specialty and lower acuity units is required
• Holiday and weekend shifts are mandatory as scheduled
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome
• Compliance with all facility and state-specific credentialing and documentation is mandatory before start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a telemetry/medical-surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of complex medical conditions, requiring strong clinical skills and certifications.
