Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Lewisburg, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Care for a mix of CCU, IMCU, and Acute Care patients as needed.
  • CCU patient ratio: typically 2:1; overflow or stable downgraded patients may increase ratio to 3:1.
  • IMCU ratio: 4:1.
  • Acute Care or Ortho reassignment ratio: 5:1.
  • May care for COVID patients.
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • EPIC experience required

Work Schedule

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: 2-3 per month (likely every other weekend)
  • Holidays: Expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO between Christmas and New Year's
  • No call requirements

Clinical Screening & Interview

  • Candidate will undergo clinical screening to determine fit.
  • Final decision made by manager after interview.

Background & Compliance Requirements

Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start.
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start.
  • Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days.
  • Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start (cannot start with results pending).

Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start (PPD not accepted)
    • Measles (Rubeola) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Mumps - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B - positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
    • COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination accepted
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year of start (Aya requirement only)
  • Respiratory Safety clearance within 1 year of start, renewed annually

Other Required Documents

  • Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
  • Most recent resume or employment application
  • Skills checklist (annual)
  • Performance evaluations completed onsite during assignment
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, professional appearance)
  • Various facility-specific agreements and acknowledgments (Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness, Non-Employee Affidavit, I9 Attestation, Documentation Attestation)
  • Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules and new hire orientation

Additional Notes

  • Floating between CCU, IMCU, Acute Care, and Ortho units as needed.
  • Candidate must be prepared to work in a tobacco and fragrance-free environment.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses comfortable with critical care and telemetry patients, who are flexible with floating assignments and working some weekends and holidays.
