Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
- Provide speech and/or language therapy services primarily to a Native American population.
- Work with patients ranging from birth through geriatric age with developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
- Administer medically based speech therapy for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results; develop and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress.
- Document assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and termination of services in electronic health records.
- Provide specialty services including swallowing evaluations (Videofluoroscopy, Modified Barium Swallowing, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), cognitive and voice treatments, pediatric speech/language therapy, pediatric feeding evaluations, and geriatric clinics.
- Assist in the development and quality improvement of speech therapy services.
- Comply with federal and state certification requirements and professional standards (ASHA Scope of Practice).
- Provide training and in-services for students and staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, nurses, and social workers.
- Maintain Medical Staff Credentialing Core Privileges.
Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.
- Licensure:
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
- Valid, current, full, and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license from Arizona or any U.S. state, D.C., or Puerto Rico.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not specified or required.
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
- COVID & Flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted after submission of a declination form.
- Housing application must be submitted 2 weeks prior to start.
- Weekend services are not available at this time.
Note: This position does not accept Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs).
