Job Opportunity: General Ultrasound Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: General Ultrasound Tech
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (Friday-Sunday, 7 PM - 7:30 AM) with holiday rotation
  • On-call: No call required
  • Floating: Yes, will float between Main Hospital and ART within scope
  • Daily Caseload: Varies

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 1 year (must be proficient in abdominal Doppler imaging)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Must have completed a prior assignment; first-timers generally not accepted unless coming from a large teaching facility
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARDMS or ARRT (S) certification
  • State Licensure: South Carolina state ultrasound licensure is not required
  • Radiation Badge: Not required for Ultrasound Techs

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, statewide and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
  • Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS: Required for all clinical staff (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • ARDMS or ARRT (S): Required for Ultrasound Techs
  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
  • Other Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, NIH Stroke, EFM, IV Therapy, and others as applicable to specific units or roles (check unit-specific requirements)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual updates required, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed

Facility Specifics

  • Orientation: Completion of HR modules and OurDay platform training required before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses; must be submitted by Wednesday before start
  • Radius Rule: 60 miles; locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
