Job Description

• Work in a 437-bed teaching hospital, specifically in the Emergency Department (ED) / Admissions Unit.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios can go up to 1:8; candidates should be comfortable with this ratio.
• First-time travelers are accepted, as well as local candidates within 75 miles.
• Preferred contract hours: 48 hours per week, but 36 hours will be accepted.
• Required dress code: scrubs in all white, all navy, or a combination; croc-type shoes with holes are not allowed.
• Available start dates: December 29 or January 5.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with a permanent license.
• Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted).

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required for all ER RN positions

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with a minimum score of 80%.

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID with clear picture and current address.
• 7-year background check completed within 30 days of start, including:

  • SS Trace
  • County search
  • National Sex Offender Registry
  • National Criminal
  • FACIS Level 3
  • OFAC
  • OMIG (NY Medicaid exclusions)
  • OIG and SAM
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start.
• Education verification: diploma or transcript acceptable.
• State license verification required within 30 days of start; license hits are not accepted and will result in cancellation.
• Facility-specific forms including AUP and Physical Examination Form (must be completed by a physician within 30 days of start).
• Physical exam must be completed on the facility-specific form with clinician’s signature and degree; cannot be done onsite.
• Fit test for N95 mask (Halyard Fluidshield or 3M 1860) within 12 months of start.
• Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or PPD) or chest x-ray within 1 year of start.
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (antibody and antigen results required; proof of vaccine series alone is insufficient)
  • Varicella
• Standard 9-panel drug screen required within 30 days prior to start; rapid drug tests not allowed.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required (October 1 - April 30), with declinations allowed for religious or medical reasons.
• COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory.

References & History

• Two clinical references required, must be supervisor level or above (Charge RNs acceptable).
• Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for any gaps.
• At least 1 year of experience in the specialty or comparable/higher acuity required for application.
• Skills checklist current within the last year and applicable to the position.
