Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Fayetteville, North Carolina

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Facility Type: Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) and Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Floating: Yes, must float within scope to meet facility needs between like units

  • Return to Work Restrictions:
    • Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
    • System has a 2 contract limit (can only extend once), then must be gone for 6 months to return
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call off policy of 2 shifts per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted shifts are guaranteed

Certifications & Competencies

  • Required Certifications:

    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for certain units (ED, OR, Peds ED, PICU)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU units
    • NIH Stroke Certification - Must be updated annually (required for ED, Psych ED, ICUs, Step Down, Med Surg, L&D, Express Care)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam - Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually; advanced dysrhythmia required for all RNs
    • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required for awareness on multiple units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures
  • Background Checks:
    • Required within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
    • Conviction dispositions within the last year or open/active cases are not permitted

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C (annual update required)
  • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (annual renewal not required if TB screening form completed)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days required
  • Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific approval and annual renewal
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but accepted if available

  • Must complete and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
    • RN Job Description
    • Confidentiality and Information Agreement
    • Patient Identification Agreement
    • Conflict of Interest Questionnaire
    • Staff Call Out Acknowledgement
    • Corporate Code of Conduct Acknowledgement
    • Policy Tech Access Acknowledgement
    • Professional Appearance Acknowledgment
    • Emergency Contact Form
    • Agency Personnel Form
    • Parking Registration (if driving)
    • Computer Use Acknowledgement
  • Photo for badge required immediately upon acceptance (passport-style, professional, no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless religious)
  • Modules must be completed through Workday and finished by Monday prior to start date

  • Locals within 50 miles are not accepted for this travel position
  • Floating between like units is required within scope
  • Return staff policy limits repeat contracts and requires time off between assignments
  • Background checks and health documents must be current and compliant with facility standards

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with LTAC and Med-Surg/Telemetry settings who meet the certification and health requirements and are willing to commit to a 13-week travel contract with weekend and floating responsibilities.
