Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Cheraw, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Evaluate and provide evidence-based treatment for a variety of speech and language disorders including expressive and receptive language disorders, cognitive disorders, speech disorders, dysphagia, fluency, voice, and social communication.
- Develop individualized plans of care with realistic, measurable short- and long-term goals tailored to patient learning styles and therapeutic needs, incorporating patient and family input and considering psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual factors.
- Adjust schedules to accommodate changes in caseload and supervise specific treatment teams.
- Maintain patient records according to hospital policy, including evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, treatment notes, charges, and discharge summaries within departmental timeframes.
- Contribute to departmental performance through professional development activities such as competency training, clinical instruction, in-service coordination, mentoring, program leadership, meeting attendance, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional growth by setting goals and participating in educational offerings to independently achieve and maintain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required by South Carolina licensing board.
- Adhere to the American Speech Language and Hearing Association Code of Ethics and Preferred Practice Patterns, South Carolina State LLR guidelines, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, medical personnel, and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment, patient progress, complications, recommendations, and order clarifications.
- Use appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Credentials & Compliance
- Valid state license/certification for Speech Language Pathologist (Primary source verification required).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required.
- Proof of immunizations or titers for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella (no declinations accepted).
- COVID-19 vaccination card (fully vaccinated) preferred but optional.
- Fit test (if applicable) within one year of start date.
- Influenza vaccine required during September-April (medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; annual negative PPD or TB questionnaire as applicable.
- Negative chest X-ray if positive PPD (within 90 days of start).
- Valid driver's license or state ID.
- Social Security card.
- Criminal background check covering last 7 years including multiple federal and state databases, completed within 60 days of start and updated annually.
- Employment verification for the past 5 years.
- 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted).
- Completion of clinical skills checklist prior to start and updated annually.
- Submission of resume/profile required prior to submission.
