Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients using the nursing process within established standards and practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess young adult, adult, and elderly patients.
  • Provide direct patient care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and re-assessments per policy.
  • Deliver individualized, age-specific care supporting hemostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiologic functioning.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and responses.
  • Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; maintain confidentiality.
  • Address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Act as patient advocate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to develop and update individualized care plans daily.
  • Develop and evaluate patient and family teaching plans.
  • Supervise and allocate work to other healthcare staff.
  • Assist physicians with procedures.
  • Respond promptly to workload changes to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Serve as a preceptor to orient new employees.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
  • Maintain and operate patient care equipment; ensure supply stock and equipment functionality.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stress.
  • Meet all department-specific competencies.
  • Perform housekeeping and assist with patient transportation as needed.
  • Adhere to dress code, infection control, safety, and personnel policies.
  • Serve as team leader and role model for staff.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Basic competency in specialized cardiac procedures and equipment, including:
    • Cardiac Monitoring
    • Care of patients Pre/Post CABG and Interventional Cardiac Procedures
    • Sheath maintenance and removal
    • Angioseal/Vasoseal management
    • Specialized medication/drip titration
    • ACT Machine operation
    • Sedation and pain management
    • Chest tube care and insertion
    • TPN/PPN administration
    • Central line and IV therapy management
    • Infusion therapy
    • Information management systems

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Cardiac RN
