Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist

Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each
• Night shift (Nights), Monday through Friday
• No weekends

Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of Laboratory experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome (no prior travel experience required)
• ASCP certification required
• BLS and ASCP-MLS certifications preferred

Required Credentials & Compliance

• I9 or Attestation required
• Government Issued Photo ID required
• E-Verify or Attestation required
• Background check including 7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Education verification for highest level of education
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager, one can be a charge RN if directly supervised)
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Work history verification for 7 years (attestation acceptable for gaps)

Certifications (As Applicable)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM)
• National tech certification verification as applicable
• NIH Stroke Certification for relevant units
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as applicable

Competency Exams (As Applicable)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
• Color Blind Testing
• Competency Exam (80% or higher)
• Age Specific Competency Exam (80% or higher)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (80% or higher, excludes some roles)

Facility Specific Requirements

• IT confidentiality agreement to be signed within 24 hours of receipt
• Passport/badge style photo with solid white/beige background
• Medical flu declination form if declining flu vaccine due to medical reasons (physician signed)
• Respiratory Protection Questionnaire signed by medical professional
• Job description acknowledgment prior to start
• Security ID application within 72 hours of signing contract
• Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
• Dress code review prior to start
• Latex Allergy Questionnaire completion

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for units working with children or newborns
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray with specific acceptable options, updated annually
• TB Questionnaire required within 2 weeks prior to start if positive TB result
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted, series not accepted)
  • Varicella
• Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel + Fentanyl) within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/6-3/31)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but vaccine or declination collected for tracking

• All lab items must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Some documents and certifications may be auto-validated upon upload
• Compliance with all credentialing and health requirements is mandatory prior to start
