Travel RN - ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
Call Requirements: No on-call required
Target Start Date: 12/24/2023


Unit Overview

  • Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Number of Beds: 22
  • Number of Staff: 60
  • Floor: 2nd
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2, sometimes 1:1 depending on census
  • Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, RNs depending on census, PCT as needed
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, RNs depending on census, PCT as needed
  • Equipment Used:
    • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
    • Impella
    • Ventiator
    • Arterial Line
    • Swan-Ganz catheters
    • SLED/TABLO machines
    • Belmont rapid infuser
    • Traction
    • EVD (External Ventricular Drain)
    • Nitric oxide
    • Hemisphere
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
  • Permanent Positions Available: No

Required Qualifications

  • Must Have:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NIH certification
  • Preferred (Nice to Have):
    • Trauma credentials (TNCC, CATN, TCAR)
    • Post-op cardiac surgery experience

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Rapid sequence intubation
  • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) and valve replacements
  • Thrombectomies
  • EVD insertions
  • SLED/TABLO dialysis
  • MTP (Massive Transfusion Protocol)
  • Cardioversion
  • IABP/Impella management
  • TNK administration
  • Vasopressors administration
  • IV sedation
