Surgical Technician (Surg Tech) - Freeport, Illinois

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Experience

• Preferred 2-5 years of scrubbing experience (will consider less if a strong candidate)
• Previous travel experience preferred (not strictly required)

Certifications

• BLS Certification required
• Certification as CST preferred (Certification preferred but not mandatory)

Work Environment

• Department: Operating Room (OR) / Surgical Tech
• Number of Suites: 4 plus 2 minor rooms and a C-section room in OB
• Average Cases per Day: 15-20
• Common Cases: General surgery, orthopedic totals, minor cases, ENT, urology, gynecology, C-section, podiatry

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Length: 9 or 10 hour shifts
• Schedule: Rotating shifts to cover late discharges
• Schedule posted 4 weeks in advance for 6 weeks
• No self-scheduling
• Call Requirements:

  • Approximately one weeknight call per week
  • 24-hour call Friday night
  • Every 5th weekend on call (Saturday/Sunday)
  • On-call coverage for holidays
• Call Response Time: 20 minutes

Additional Information

• Floating: May be required to assist in SPD (Sterile Processing Department) helping hands
• Scrubs provided
• Department-specific orientation: 1-2 weeks with a preceptor on unit
