Description

Job Opportunity: OR X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Role: OR X-Ray Tech
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Call: Weekly call rotation, 3-4 days per month
  • Floating: May float within scope to other buildings on the same campus; no floating to sister facilities
  • Work Setting: Primarily Rutledge Tower (Outpatient OR); may work in Main OR if not busy
  • Daily Caseload: Varies

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year (must have recent OR experience and C-arm experience)
  • Preferred Experience: O-arm experience; trauma experience preferred but not required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • ARRT (R)
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • South Carolina state license must be in hand prior to start
  • Radiation Badge: Required and must be supplied by the agency (facility does NOT provide radiation badges to travelers)

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Background checks including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County, State, National Criminal checks
    • Sex Offender Registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification (diploma/transcripts)
  • Employment history verification (last 3 clinical employers)
  • Clinical references (2 required)
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Radiation badge process must be followed; candidates cannot start without badge
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days prior to start
  • Annual TB questionnaire and recent negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer or vaccines)
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge

Additional Certifications (As Applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for certain units but not for this tech role
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required for pediatric units
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required for some nursing roles, not required for this tech role
  • Other certifications as applicable based on unit and role
