Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Urology) - Charleston, South Carolina

Position Details

  • Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), holidays as needed

  • Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to like units or sister facilities based on needs

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • First-timers: Not accepted (must have prior experience)
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC accepted)
    • ONS certification preferred
  • Additional Experience: Experience with Epic electronic health record system required
  • Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience

Key Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Radiation Badge: Required; agency must provide radiation badge (facility does not provide)
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours)
  • Modules and OurDay platform login provided after clearance
  • All modules must be completed prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into OurDay platform

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Medication and competency exams required as applicable
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers required

This position is ideal for experienced Urology RNs with at least 1 year of specialty experience, who hold the appropriate licensure and certifications, and are comfortable working in a dynamic, academic, and trauma center environment with some floating responsibilities.
