Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (1800-0630)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Respiratory Therapy)
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- On-call: Required as needed
- Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- License: Active Illinois license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- ACLS and PALS may be required based on unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)
Required Skills and Experience

- Airway Management:
- Endotracheal tube suctioning
- Extubation
- Intubation assist
- Nasal airway placement and suctioning
- Oral airway placement and oropharyngeal suctioning
- Sputum specimen collection
- Tracheostomy suctioning
- Nebulizer Skills: Handheld, T-Piece, Trach collar
- Oxygen Therapy: Bag and mask, ET tube, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), T-Piece, Trach collar, Venturi masks
- Ventilator Management: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience required
- Preferred Experience: Teaching hospital, community hospital, Level I and II trauma center experience

Additional Requirements
- Must work every other weekend and be available for on-call shifts as needed
- May be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts

- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years

- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Competency exam and skills checklist required for clinical candidates
- Photo for badge within one week of signing contract
