Job Opportunity: Laboratory - Cyto Tech (Days)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Shift: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (08:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Weekend Requirement: None
Holiday Requirement: Required as scheduled
On-Call: Not required
Floating: May be required within the specialty as needed

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Laboratory - Cytotechnology
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year experience required
• Additional: Previous charge experience required
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Licenses & Certifications

• ASCP certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (refer to job description for applicability)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI) depending on unit and specialty

Skills & Competencies

• Cerner experience required
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• Competency Exams relevant to profession/specialty (must score 80% or higher)
• Age Specific Competency Exam (required for all, including CNAs)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for most units except certain roles)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification for highest level of education
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen (including Fentanyl) within 30 days prior to start (instant tests NOT accepted)
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (must be completed prior to start)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
  • Tdap required if working with children or specific units
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray updated annually
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable)
• COVID vaccine not required but documentation collected for tracking

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start (one must be from a supervisor/manager, one charge RN acceptable if directly supervised)
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Work history verification for previous 5-7 years (attestation acceptable for gaps)
• Facility-specific documents including:

  • Photo for badge (passport style)
  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Dress Code review
  • Respiratory Protection Questionnaire (must be signed by medical professional)
  • Badge Application (time sensitive, complete within 72 hours of signing)
  • IT confidentiality agreement (must be signed within 24 hours of receipt)
  • Medical Flu Declination (if applicable, must be signed by physician)
  • Job Description acknowledgment (RN and Non-RN as applicable)
  • Portfolio Training Test Out Form (for Epic training eligibility)

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Cytotechnologist with at least 1 year of experience and prior charge experience. The position is a day shift, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or on-call requirements. Cerner experience and ASCP certification are mandatory. First-time travelers are welcome. Comprehensive background checks, immunizations, and competency exams are required prior to start. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
