Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), Manager accepts either 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities
  • Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 97
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: No cost

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years (must have Med/Surg experience)
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Preferred Experience: Telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Call Out Policy: After 2 call outs without documented medical reason, contract may be canceled
  • Block Schedule: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, but at a reduced rate

Required Training & Compliance

  • Must complete all assigned modules prior to start date (estimated 2 hours for this location)
  • Attendance at staff meetings is required
  • COVID vaccination records preferred but not required; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
  • Must upload vaccination and flu documentation into facility system prior to start

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Annual background check including 7 years of residence/employment history
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if needed
  • Primary source verification of SC RN license required
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and titers required or acceptable declinations for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella, Mumps, Rubella, Rubeola (Measles)
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if positive history
  • Annual TB questionnaire required

  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Signed agreements and acknowledgments prior to start including:
    • Assignment Acknowledgment
    • Code of Conduct
    • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
    • HR Policy Manual review
    • Systems User Agreement
    • Job Description acknowledgment
    • Orientation Acknowledgement
    • Safety Codes review and signature
    • Parking Permit Request
    • Dress Code review and signature
  • Modules and orientation must be completed on a computer (not mobile)
  • Radiation badge required only for OR RNs (not applicable for this position)

Additional Notes

  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension contracts during peak months (Aug-Sept) if this is a concern.
  • Facility uses Epic for charting and provides free parking.
  • Travelers must be prepared to float within scope to meet facility needs.

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with Med/Surg and telemetry skills who hold the appropriate South Carolina licensure and certifications, and who are comfortable working night shifts with a 1:6-7 patient ratio in a short-term acute care setting.
