Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Position requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical as needed.
• Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and will be assigned appropriately.
• Ohio State or Compact RN license required.
• Approximately 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Two supervisory references required; one must be from a supervisor or manager.

Licensure & Certifications

• OH State or Compact RN license required.
• ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
• BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
• PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for NICU nurses (AHA/AAP certification only)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) as applicable
• State License Verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred (higher value used).
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Floating Requirements

• Must be willing and able to float to NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, stepdown, and medical-surgical units.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
• Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or in-house verification if needed.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) within 60 days of start, updated for each new contract.
• Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Verification of highest degree and licensure within 30 days of start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (no longer requires copy of physical, but must be on file).
• N95 Fit Testing within 1 year of start, updated annually. Onsite testing allowed if prior options exhausted.
• TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11).
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol; TB questionnaire required at start and annually.
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination or proof of vaccination/titer acceptable)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Two professional references required (manager/supervisor; charge RN acceptable for one). Peer references not accepted.
• Copy of resume or employment application required.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
• Code of Conduct and Confidentiality/IT Use Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• Facility-specific documents including infection control policy, fingerprinting proof, TB forms, flu exemption policy, and background attestation must be completed as required.
