Description

Registered Nurse II – Ambulatory Care (Travel)

Location: Portland, Maine
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Employment Type: Travel

Job Summary

The RN II – Ambulatory Care provides professional nursing care in a physician office setting, assisting physicians and advanced practice practitioners in delivering patient care. Wound care experience is required.


Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current state RN license required
    • Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date
  • Experience:
    • Wound care experience required
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required (higher value taken)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not specified / not required

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document health history, vital signs, and health risk factors
  • Assist physicians/advanced practice practitioners with examinations
  • Provide face-to-face and telephonic patient care based on clinic guidelines and regulations
  • Administer prescribed treatments and medications; monitor and document patient response
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Educate patients on health status, maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions
  • Document patient care and responses in compliance with professional standards
  • Respond to patient messages in a timely manner
  • Identify patient needs and coordinate care with the healthcare team
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment following safety policies
  • Handle biomedical, pharmaceutical, hazardous, and universal wastes per regulations
  • Safely handle hazardous drugs if assigned (receipt, storage, compounding, dispensing, transport, disposal)
