Job Summary: Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Job Description

• Assess acute changes in patients in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with chronic ventilators required
• Use of EKG and competency in rhythm strip interpretation (must pass EKG strip test at orientation)
• Preferred experience with initiating and maintaining cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, cardizem
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Floating required
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Charting system: Epic
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Locals accepted
• Pending license not accepted
• Return to office restrictions: 7 days max

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only (no other RQI providers accepted)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for specific RN/unit positions; not required for Tele specialty
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) recommended depending on unit but not mandatory for this role

Licensure

• Active RN license in Illinois required
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of assignment start
• Pending licenses not accepted

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal checks, education verification, and international checks if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Fingerprinting required only if profession does not require an Illinois state license (not applicable for RN)
• Education verification required (ADN or BSN minimum)
• Drug testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Physical exam required within 1 year and updated annually
• Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific mask types mandated)
• Immunizations and titers required within 2 business days of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB history)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31), with medical or religious exemptions requiring facility approval
• COVID-19 and Influenza exemption forms available but require facility approval prior to assignment

Documentation Required

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Passport-style photo for badge (plain background, forward facing, no headgear)
• Employment application including last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• 2 professional references
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• Work history verification for 7 years
• Background attestation if recent clear background check is pending updated results

• Floating to other units is required
• Weekend shifts every other weekend required

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of telemetry experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with cardiac monitoring and ventilator patients. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
