Job Description

• Assess acute changes in patients in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with chronic ventilators required
• Use of EKG and competency in rhythm strip interpretation required (must pass EKG strip test at orientation)
• Prefer competence in initiating and maintaining cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, cardizem
• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Floating required
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Charting system: Epic
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Locals accepted
• Pending license not accepted
• Return to office restrictions: 7 days max

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty (Telemetry)
• First-time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for this position; AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) recommended depending on unit but not required for Telemetry

Licensure

• Valid RN license for Illinois required
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of assignment start

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal checks, education verification, and international checks if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Fingerprinting via Illinois Health Care Worker Registry required if no Illinois state license
• Education verification required (ADN or BSN minimum)
• Drug testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start, updated annually

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask models required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination or declination within 2 business days of contract signing
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire if positive TB test
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31), with facility-approved medical or religious exemptions only
• Drug testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start, updated annually

Documentation Required

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
• Employment application with last 7 years of employment history (explain gaps >30 days)
• 2 professional references
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• Work history verification for last 7 years
• Background attestation if recent background check is pending

Additional Notes

• COVID-19 and Influenza vaccine exemption forms (medical and religious) must be completed and approved at least one week prior to documentation due date
• Facility does not accept attestations for background checks except as placeholder while waiting for updated results
• Candidates must complete fingerprinting in Illinois if required; cannot be done out of state

This position is ideal for RNs with telemetry experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Illinois with a reputable healthcare system. First-time travelers are welcome, and weekend and floating shifts are required.
