Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider or AHA RQI only (No Laerdal RQI accepted)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for this RN position; AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• Preferred Certification: NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Med Surgical nursing or comparable/higher acuity area
• Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal criminal checks, FACIS III, education verification, and international checks if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of assignment start
• Illinois Department of Public Health fingerprinting required if candidate does not hold an Illinois state license (must be done in Illinois)

Health and Immunization Requirements (Time Sensitive)

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask models required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination or declination (within 10 years)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire if positive TB test
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation for 2025-26 flu season or approved medical/religious exemption (approval process may take up to 1 week)

Documentation and History Requirements

• Current resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• 2 professional references required
• Employment verification for last 7 years (third party or in-house)
• Skills checklist for assigned and float units, updated annually
• Background attestation may be used if a clear background check is on file within 12 months

Additional Notes

• Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
• COVID-19 and Influenza exemption forms available; must be completed and approved at least one week prior to documentation due date
• No prior travel experience required for this position

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of Med Surgical experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in Illinois with a reputable healthcare facility using Epic charting. Weekend and floating shifts are required. All certifications and health documentation must be current and compliant with facility standards.
