Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off before/after holidays or on weekends
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs
Experience & Certifications
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (required as of 10/14/2024, must be updated annually)
- Preferred Certification: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Licensure & Residency
- License: Must have an active RN license for Illinois (pending licenses not accepted)
- Residency: Locals accepted, preference for candidates living within 75 miles of the facility

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required for start dates after April 2024
- Facility-specific rules and forms must be completed prior to start
