Job Opportunity: 5N Med/Surg - Medical Stroke Nurse

Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
Specialty: Medical-Surgical Nursing with focus on Medical Stroke (5N)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: 5N Med/Surg Medical Stroke
• Patient Population: Stroke patients, COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, occasional surgical overflow (e.g., thyroidectomy)
• Average Daily Census: 26-28 patients
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5-6
• Support Staff: 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, weekends as scheduled
• Flex capacity up to 35 beds
• Experience with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is a plus
• Experience with TPA administration or lower level stroke care preferred
• EPIC electronic medical record experience highly preferred
• Prior travel experience is highly preferred (not explicitly required)

Certifications & Requirements

• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Must provide an unexpired driver’s license

Experience Requirements

• Specialty Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years in Med/Surg with stroke experience (based on specialty title)
• Prior travel experience: Preferred but not explicitly required

This position is suitable for experienced Med/Surg nurses with a strong interest or background in stroke care, comfortable working night shifts and weekends in a moderately busy unit.
