Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Unit and Floating Requirements

  • Units: Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), ICU, Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
  • Primary float: ICU, but may float to all MS, MS/Tele, PCU, ICU units within the hospital
  • Floating is required

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

  • ICU: 1:2-3
  • PCU: 1:4-5
  • MS/MS Tele: 1:5-6

Systems and Tools

  • Epic (required)
  • Pyxis
  • SBAR communication

Schedule and Time Off

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
  • Call: None required
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (if 1 holiday falls, work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2)
  • Major holidays include New Year’s Eve/Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day

Dress Code

  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length

Required Background and Health Documents

  • Background check required within 30 days of start (including criminal, sex offender, education verification)
  • Education verification required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • State nursing license verification within 30 days prior to start (must be licensed in Georgia)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (Aya requirement)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start
  • TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)

Competency Exams and Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by Aya)
  • Color blind testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU) with up to 3 attempts allowed

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required (Aya requirement)

  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
