Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (1st time travelers not accepted)
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Unit Beds: 36
- Float Requirement: Must float to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Weekend Shifts: Half of scheduled shifts are weekends
Required Skills
- Med/Surg, MS/Telemetry
- Colostomy care
- Feeding tube management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
- Accessing ports
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draws
- Peripheral line management
- Phlebotomy
- PICC line management
- Starting IVs
- Heparin administration
- PCA management
- Care for spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injury
- Ortho trauma and total joint replacements
- Surgical drains management
- HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Tracheostomy management
- Wound care
Certifications
- Required: BLS
- Preferred: NIH Stroke Certification, ACLS
- Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- EPIC documentation system experience required
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state checks
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Additional Information
- Local travelers from specified counties are not accepted
- Half of scheduled shifts will be weekend shifts
- Must be willing to float to other units of equal or lesser acuity
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with orthopedic and med/surg skills who meet the certification and documentation requirements and have prior travel experience.
