ICU RN Travel Assignment - Kearney, Nebraska

Position Overview

• Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Registered Nurse
• Location: Kearney, Nebraska
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October
• Facility Type: Hospital with 10 ICU beds (average daily census 5+)
• EMR System: EPIC

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required, but pediatric experience is highly preferred, not mandatory
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Experience & Skills

• Strong background in cardiac care
• Experience with balloon pumps and Impella pumps preferred
• Experience with invasive arterial line monitoring preferred
• Ability to float to PCU (Progressive Care Unit) and Med Surg as needed
• Comfortable working with adult ICU patients and pediatric patients under 8 years old in ICU; pediatric patients over 8 years typically in PCU or Med Surg unless ICU care is required
• Common patient diagnoses include: open heart surgery, CHF, COPD, overdose, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, some neuro cases (no ICP monitoring yet), TeleStroke program patients

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Shifts: 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 2 weekends per month (Saturday & Sunday), subject to change based on unit needs
• Holidays: 1 major and 1 minor holiday required
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedules are unit-driven
• Up to 2 extra mandatory overtime shifts every 6 weeks
• Floating: First to float when needed
• Scrub Colors: Navy Blue, Black, or Charcoal Grey
