Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients using the nursing process within established standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess young adult, adult, and elderly patients.
• Cardiac monitoring and intervention.
• Sedation and pain management.
• Chest tube care and insertion.
• Medication administration.
• Pre and post cardiac catheterization care.
• Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) / Peripheral Parenteral Nutrition (PPN).
• Access and care of central lines.
• Specialized IV drips and titration, IV therapy, and IV additives.
• Transfusion therapy.
• Waived testing and information management.
• Assist physicians with procedures.
• Supervise and allocate work to other healthcare staff.
• Serve as a preceptor to orient new employees.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
• Maintain patient care equipment and supplies.
• Provide individualized, age-specific care across the lifespan.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation.
• Function as a patient advocate, respecting psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Formulate and evaluate teaching plans for patients and families.
• Respond promptly to workload changes to ensure productivity.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and personnel policies.
• Perform housekeeping and patient transportation duties as needed.
• Serve as team leader and role model for staff.
