Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Mountain Home, Arkansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of experience in PCU, ICU, or Step Down units. The role involves providing direct patient care, leadership within the nursing team, and collaborating with healthcare team members to promote evidence-based care.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience in PCU, ICU, or Step Down units.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required.

Education & Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school. ADN required; BSN preferred.
• Current Arkansas or Compact State RN License in good standing.

Certifications

• BLS required.
• ACLS required within the first year of employment.
• PNCC preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Ability to handle critical and highly stressful situations with composure.
• Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations (e.g., CPR).

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and twist for 8-12 hours per shift.
• Occasionally lift 50 pounds or more; assist in lifting patients up to 125 pounds.
• Push wheelchairs with patients and equipment weighing over 150 pounds.
• Spend extended periods using a computer or monitor.
• Must have keen hearing and visual acuity to respond to patient needs and alarms.
• May be exposed to environmental hazards, infectious diseases, and work around prisoners or mental health patients.

Work Environment

• Patient rooms, nursing unit, hospital environment.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year history and various state and national verifications.
• Drug testing with negative 10-panel screen required.
• Physical exam (within 1 year) and various immunizations/vaccinations including:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccination documentation or exemption notification
• Competency exams and skills checklist updated annually.
• References: 2 required within 2-3 years.
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start.

Summary

This travel Registered Nurse position requires a minimum of 3 years of critical care experience, current licensure, and standard certifications (BLS, ACLS). The role demands physical stamina, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and documentation is mandatory.
