Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Pratt, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
  • Unit: Med/Surg ICU with medical overflow patients at times
  • Patient care: Telemetry monitoring, drips, ventilators, BiPAPs, occasional arterial or CVP monitoring
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 1:2

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Kansas RN license or compact license at time of submission
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • All required certifications must be current at time of submission

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg ICU)

  • Physical exam:
    • Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
    • Physician statement confirming "free of communicable diseases and cleared to work" within 12 months of start
  • Drug testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine required
    • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 vaccines
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or declination documentation
    • Varicella: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 vaccines
    • Flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31) unless medically exempt; mask required if exempt
    • COVID-19 vaccine no longer required; declination or exemption accepted on facility form
  • Competency exams:
    • Medication/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
    • Unit-specific competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Orientation and training:
    • Completion of facility-specific training videos and modules prior to start
    • Review and sign confidentiality agreement, standards of performance, agency information sheet
    • Completion of restraints training and suicide/behavioral risk assessment training prior to arrival
    • OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training or attestation required

  • ICU setting with occasional medical overflow patients
  • Use of telemetry, drips, ventilators, BiPAPs, arterial and CVP monitoring
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with ICU or Med/Surg experience who holds the required certifications and licensure, and is comfortable working in a telemetry ICU environment with a 1:2 patient ratio on 12-hour shifts.
