Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lansing, Michigan
Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Nurse (Behavioral Health assignment most of the time)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule:
- Weekend shifts required: 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4-week schedule
- May work 1 to all 3 weekend days
- Floating to Pediatrics possible
- On Call: No
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience (Level I trauma experience required)
- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- EPIC charting experience
- Ability to work in a high patient ratio environment (typically 1:5-6, can be up to 1:8)
- Prior travel experience is not required (unit accepts first-time travelers)
Required Certifications
- Current State Nursing License (Michigan)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Life Support) by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ATCN as a substitute
- NIH Stroke Certification
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) preferred/required for ER placements
Preferred Experience
- Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
- Triage experience
Unit Information
- Level 1 Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department
- High patient-to-nurse ratios expected, especially during holidays
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- Drug screening (10-panel with THC) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (must note latex sensitivity)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity verification
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Varicella immunity verification
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- Facility-specific modules and competency exams to be completed onsite or prior to start
- Required to submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of submittal
Additional Notes
- Modules completed onsite at orientation are not billable hours (approx. 5 hours)
- High patient ratios require flexibility and strong clinical skills
- Floating to pediatric patients may be required
This position is suitable for ER nurses with trauma experience looking for a travel contract in Michigan, including those new to travel nursing.
