Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Mammography Tech - Outpatient Clinic)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Perform a minimum of 20 screening mammograms per day.
  • Fast-paced outpatient facility requiring autonomy, effective teamwork, great communication, positive attitude, and flexibility.
  • Daily caseload: 55 patients.
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8s).
  • No weekend or on-call requirements.
  • Overtime may require shift adjustments (e.g., coming in late the next day to avoid overtime).
  • Floating required within scope to sister facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1+ years in mammography (higher experience requirement not indicated).
  • First-timers accepted: Yes.
  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (Mammography)
    • SCRQSA (Mammography)
    • South Carolina state license (must be in hand prior to start; no pending license accepted)
  • Special Skills:
    • Must know how to operate Siemens Revelations and Hologic Dimension equipment (hard requirement).
    • Must be able to perform both screening and diagnostic mammograms.
  • Radiation Badge: Not required for this role.

Work Environment & Policies

  • Facility Type: Outpatient Clinic.
  • Charting system: Epic.
  • Dress Code: Any shade of pink or dark teal top with black bottoms.
  • Orientation: On-site, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Radius rule: 60 miles.
  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; no call-outs allowed.
  • Block scheduling: Possible with prior approval but not guaranteed.
  • Hurricane Season (June-November): Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this period; avoid confirming new or extension assignments if this is a concern.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
  • Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Certifications: ACLS (as applicable), BLS, PALS (as applicable), and tech certification verification.
  • State license primary source verification.
  • Health documents including:
    • Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, cleared to work without restrictions.
    • Fit mask test within 90 days prior to start (specific mask types required).
    • Tdap vaccination within 10 years or declination form.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days.
    • MMR vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted for mumps and rubella, not measles).
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
    • Varicella vaccination, documented history, or declination.
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted).
    • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.
  • Photo for badge (specific photo requirements).
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
  • Competency exams and skills checklist required.
  • Respiratory safety clearance and fit testing required; onsite fit testing available as last resort.

Additional Notes

  • Floating between East Cooper and West Ashley facilities may be required.
  • Facility does not require a radiation badge for mammography techs.
  • Facility-specific background check registration and additional screening processes must be completed prior to start.
  • Travelers must comply with all facility policies and documentation deadlines to avoid disciplinary actions or delays in start date.
